There is no right or left
There is no right or left
And there’s no back and forth
I have reached a stalemate
A dead-end on this course
No way to begin again
And nothing can be said
I’ve no way of turning
A black rose back to red
The slow hum of Sunday
The slow hum of Sunday
I travel with the sun
Is it six or seven
Has the evening begun
Where is Sunday morning
It seems like yesterday
How soon the night will fall
And sleep be on its way
Tuesday, February 28, 2012
I would surrender time
I would surrender time
And all future tenses
To have you here again
Near to all my senses
To see you eye to eye
To have you in my care
I’d give up all of time
For one moment to share
This winter without snow
This winter without snow
Although the trees are bare
Spring in February
Where is the Arctic air
Climate change amongst us
Tornadoes touching down
Winter disappearing
No longer frozen ground
Time is running past me (Variation)
Time is running past me
I must learn a new song
Sad to be leaving but
I’ve held this note too long
Soon I’ll be expanding
Never will I implode
I’ll find a new landscape
Where I can make my road
Time is running past me
Time is running past me
I’ve only learned one song
How singular it is
I’ve held this note too long
I should have expanded
Instead I just implode
I know this landscape well
I travel just one road
My answers can't be found
My answers can’t be found
Under a microscope
Or at the very end
Of a strong telescope
Neither the smallest small
Or the infinite space
Can wrap its arms around
All the questions I face
Between the tall graphite
Between the tall graphite
Avenues in splendor
Cross your narrow streets with
Niches full of wonder
Running like a loose flag
Ambassador of me
Through this urban canyon
Declaring I am free
Winter February
Winter February
Dreams float in outerspace
Summer so far away
So too the human race
While a transparent moon
Slowly glides to its light
Idle stars are waiting
For the darkness of night
Forget February
Forget February
Look past it into Spring
Past this evening’s snowfall
The icicles it brings
Look at the peeking star
In the coldness of space
Above the sparkling snow
That tulips will replace

How can you judge a leaf
How can you judge a leaf
A clover or snowflake
Superiority
Of one in mass create
Breathing but just one breath
Is not greater than great
But one idea can be
The winner of the cake
Is this the word of words
Is this the word of words
Is that the line of lines
Can you see my blood flow
And can you hear my rhymes
I’m caught in the brush strokes
The poet’s life and times
Is this the word of words
Is that the line of lines
Still I remember you
Still I remember you
Youthful in the sunlight
You never knew at all
My lonely painful plight
Of how much I loved you
And dreamt of you all day
As I stood beside you
Not knowing what to say
The Universe has no center
The Universe has no center
And it is said it has no edge
Yet our planet has gravity
Should I fall off this very ledge
Always the less than equal sign
In the equations in my head
If energy can’t be created
Or destroyed, then what is dead
Remember Saturdays
Remember Saturdays
When we had time to spend
Together just us two
And we were best of friends
And now we’ve grown apart
We cannot find amend
And all those Saturdays
Came sadly to an end
My head is in a cloud
My head is in a cloud
I trip across the cellar
I am bigger than Life
Taller than any pillar
Then I’m under your foot
Feeling so much smaller
I wish I could again
Just be someone taller
So what is my success
So what is my success
Not in it for applause
Just my own heart beating
Two thumps and then a pause
Maybe one day you’ll find
One snowflake in the snow
Common as the clover
Tears in an ocean flow
It will always be there
It will always be there
Though I’m no longer near
And in the night its lights
Cannot be seen from here
In its urban canyons
I will no longer stroll
And it will always be
A place that makes me whole
Have the courage to live
Have the courage to live
To let yourself unfold
Accepting the past while
The future is to behold
Be so wise to be kind
And gentle yet so strong
Should the journey taken
Be too short or too long
I send this single thought
I send this single thought
Into the weightless space
As the snow slowly falls
Gravity holds its place
In all the vast darkness
It drifts out in the still
Nothingness receives it
And time will make it nil
Across the sky beyond
Across the sky beyond
The blue and into black
Where radio signals call
But never answer back
Where wars are never won
And rain never showers
Into the cold and where
Tulips never flower
