After a major storm

After a major storm
Emotions peaked and went
Deadwood is left upon
The base of a bridge bent

It may take another
Rising water and storm
To release or forgive
To heal again the norm

Bolstered up on my own

Bolstered up on my own
Wishes to be better
Healing or hurrying
Track suit or full sweater

Keeping weeds from growing
Better fence to neighbors
Inviting tender hearts
Alongside the labors

Somewhere in a forgot

Somewhere in a forgot
But not forgotten lost
An importance tugged hard
On its leash at all cost

A bauble, a brief bloom
A button needing thread
On an article of
Clothing that I had shed

Do I turn this corner

Do I turn this corner
Little significance
Just one syllable more
Altering the cadence

Self-imposed strategy
Graduate to seven
Or maybe even eight
Or nine, ten, eleven

There are burdens with dreams

There are burdens with dreams
Anchors dragged through oceans
Cargo thrown overboard
To encourage motions

But without them - abyss
A darkness without edge
We must Imagine and
Set compasses to pledge

Having no empathy

Having no empathy
And those that cannot feel
Approach with knowledge of
Impenetrable peel

Not capable of love
We should have been afraid
It was not about "all"
Just only their parade

All of these absolutes

All of these absolutes
(I'm finding that funny)
Even a cloudy day
Is still a bit sunny

Never ever again
(And still I have to laugh)
Negating my own self
In an intended gaffe

Taking it on the chin

Taking it on the chin
Swallowing hard on pride
Out from the dust cloud ring
And brushing off my hide

Still offering some crumbs
Fewer birds are landing
So much food in this world
I am understanding

Falling forty stories

Falling forty stories
In the course of two days
And then to up and walk
Away and not be fazed

Asking how it happened
Internal clock and springs
Sailboat-like butterfly
Capsized and then with wings

Wanting to disappear

Wanting to disappear
A lost penny at sea
Feeling like a lost heart
Wishing cloud canopy

A sense of giving up
Drowning not yet floating
Smiling while self-demised
A thick sugar coating

It's closer than ever

It's closer than ever
See the path I have made
Off the beaten track once
Now old and clearly staid

So much in the distance
But future is a no
New is far, old is here
Just simply, let me go

Sadness in shallow pools

Sadness in shallow pools
Deep sadness so much so
Out of perspective like
Murder and stubbing toe

Needing to step out of
This senseless sense of blue
So much humanity
Violated each dew

In a forward motion

In a forward motion
Wishing to pick up speed
Discarding emotions
That only want to feed

Granting self-approval
Recognizing treasure
In others and myself
Engage without measure

Void of vindication

Void of vindication
No jury, judge or court
In silence, a vacuum
A Life without a port

Bring myself back to land
To climb a new plateau
Pull myself to soil
To plant each even row

Living in the ombre

Living in the ombre
Ears constantly ringing
Feet striding less and
Worrisome hands wringing

Wanting to be youthful
But cannot live again
I don't want to repeat
Look forward, not back when

Nothing is the answer

Nothing is the answer
At least that is something!
No more details follow
Deadwood without a Spring

Yet not without rewards
The verbs we must embrace
Before we switch to nouns
Just occupying space

Rainbows are circles and

Rainbows are circles and
Beneath each crown, tree roots
We only see arches
Or trunk, limbs, leaves and fruits

Volcanoes erupting
From seismic shifts of plates
Our lives seen as crescents
In rushing of the dates

So immaterial

So immaterial
Insignificant pause
This slanted sunlight or
This metaphoric clause

In the sum of beauty
There's a spout and a drain
But some moments get caught
On the bank in the grain
