Two triumphant bonsai

Two triumphant bonsai
Our toes are in the lawn
Our feet loose and our limbs
Stretch larger than a yawn

Alive and lavishing
Thoughts free as the wind blows
Facing the elements
Fearless and without no's

Stop looking back at years

Stop looking back at years
And remembering when
Pivot on the present
And zero in on zen

Accumulate wisdom
But here and now jnana
Find might in the moment
Navigate nirvana

The pendulum is stuck

The pendulum is stuck
No swing and no return
It's too far to the right
When will we ever learn

That freedom is fighting
And progress must be won
We must stop the hateful
That subtract and not sum

Our past growing colder

Our past growing colder
In a snowfall of days
Here on the clearest night
With no cloud cover haze

To hold what little warmth
Before it surrenders
No air, no fuel, no want
Go out, dying ember

Kindness painted pitch black

Kindness painted pitch black
Acceptance out of reach
Our hopes peppered with no
It's all pit and no peach

Flinching at the future
Growing bleaker each time
Our World and words smaller
Near-sighted without rhyme

Again the Overwhelm

Again the Overwhelm
The language of Being
Universal knowledge
And spoken by seeing

Cloud blooms and daisy bursts
Blue, white, above green, brown
With hawks hung by Calder
That keep swirling around

Fixated and focused

Fixated and focused
The kaleidoscope still
The dust may have settled
But the thoughts are not nil

Looking at the valley
Even after the climb
Descend the other side
Out of sight, out of mind

Someday distance will come

Someday distance will come
Seasons then an ocean
A memory without
Senses or emotion

We will look back at the
Journey and the root cause
And conclude our choices
Are worthy of applause

An invisible war

An invisible war
The two of us soldiers
Fighting in the trenches
Our shoulders to shoulders

Victorious without
Fanfare or a parade
Our flags of free hearts and
The wise choices we made

The end of loneliness

The end of loneliness
With the absence of you
Better to be alone
Not always needing glue

Keeping myself intact
Gone is the endless chew
To have found company
In one instead of two

Must we litter our skies

Must we litter our skies
With drones bringing donuts
Amazon dirigibles
Consumer juggernauts

Must have and must have now
Quick gratification
Is there no end in sight
There's no indication

Watermelon wasted

Watermelon wasted
Unopened birthday cards
A failed celebration
Joy shattered into shards

A strawberry shortcake
Could never fall so short
Once though a beauty mark
So happens, it's a wart

This disillusionment

This disillusionment
The unraveling end
Leave the impossible
Lambs in the lion's den

Leave it in its coldness
And the frost that it makes
Layers of snow can be
Warm but it's still cold flakes

There is a toughness in

There is a toughness in
A gentle person's smile
A commitment to now
And go the extra mile

Behind it clenched teeth
Resolved to make the best
To weather the storms and
Prepared for any test

Good morning sunflower

Good morning sunflower
Look over your shoulder
The sun's coming up, you're
Another day bolder

Celebrate your brightness
With a turn of the head
The day a blank canvas
With great brushstrokes ahead
