The metronome of Life
The metronome of Life
From falling out of bed
To climbing in to it
Again the sleepy head
From I can overcome
To I can’t keep going
I’ve pushed all I can push
And even tried towing
Where are the winter snows
Where are the winter snows
The blankets of pure white
The weather is too warm
The seas are gaining height
North Pole ice is shrinking
Hurricanes on the rise
The absence of winter
The hottest of Julys

Between the two ashes
Between the two ashes
We find hope, love, and hurt
Collect memories that
Disappear in the dirt
Between the dust to dust
We wriggle and riddle
It begins and then ends
And Life is the middle
I'm not a follower
I’m not a follower
The road may as well be
Outerspace where the only
One astronaut is me
I’m not an inventor
Creating with purpose
Though I mass produce large
Quantities and surplus
To have traveled this far
To have traveled this far
To find the bridge is out
The only thing crossing is
My loud and lonely shout
Must find another way
Who could have predicted
This hurdle, this delay
This detour inflicted
In all this randomness
In all this randomness
A cornucopia
Of planets with no sign
Of a utopia
In this vast endless space
Mainly silence and peace
And the darkness and light
That never seems to cease
Writing takes a shepherd
Writing takes a shepherd
There are always lost sheep
Stranded on a hill where
The incline is too steep
On the way to the page
Words and thoughts go astray
Gone missing from the flock
Must guide them on their way
