The battle is over

The battle was over
But the war was not won
Our backs turned, not facing
A cold war had begun

And the years have expired
No tap on the shoulder
Not seeing eye to eye
Coldness just gets colder

How I found the beauty

How I found the beauty
It took a second glance
Past the initial flaws
Its character advanced

How strong the impression
That was almost mistook
How much to admire when
I took a second look

We are in a corner

We are in a corner
In the widest of space
A small fraction, a dot
A tiny, little place

Where stories without proof
Shadow the exquisite
Appreciate nature
Learn to live within it

Not a jigsaw puzzle

Not a jigsaw puzzle
Pieces put together
Not a chip or break, or
Passing of bad weather

Something that can’t be fixed
No cure, no healing scar
The loss of a feather
The falling of a star

In early evening with

In early evening with
Winter clouds spread apart
A golden sun settles
In the horizon’s heart

For a short while longer
The sky remains light blue
As all the lights turn on
And glow a twilight hue

The silence of winter

The silence of winter
Even the winter birds
Are silent on branches
Not speaking nature's words

The sound of a snowflake
The quietness of light
Catching it as it falls
In its descending flight

White cornfields, black starlings

White cornfields, black starlings
A cloudless winter sky
Falling snow has fallen
And now the sun is high

Journey beneath the blue
The season at its prime
Land forever rushing
As we chase passing time
