Compassion composes

Compassion composes
For every instrument
We can all play a part
In greater sentiment

The love for oneself is
Not the greatest of all
Love is greater than one
It's an assembly hall

You are nothing more than

You are nothing more than
Goal posts, rigid and fixed
Not cheering the athletes
Any empathy nixed

I've chosen the sidelines
Past the bleachers beyond
Away from the sports field
And happily withdrawn

Simply spectacular

Simply spectacular
Like one and one is two
Moments lasting minutes
And not just blinking through

Old souls walk the gravel
That stone stands out for me
And likewise chosen to
Become the greater We

Julia Jackson Prayer

Clearly I’m  beautiful
The brown skin of my hand
Whatever shade is yours
Is equally as grand

There's not one type of tree
Flower, fish, horse, grass, rock
How dare you to expect
Humans to be one flock

No part of me is here

No part of me is here
No sign of my before
As if I left nothing
When I passed through that door

Yet my encounter with
A granular, a small
A part of me was left
Behind and towers tall

Complacent and complex

Complacent and complex
Simplicity is gone
Walking with an unrest
In the rouging of dawn

Another complete day
The fire is left unpoked
The coming rain will wash
The words we left unspoked

This is not intellect

This is not intellect
All emotions at best
Raging flooding river
And a view from its crest

Dissection of feelings
What's the weather today
So much to accomplish
So much to throw away
